Pride of barbados not blooming

Hi all,

I live in Austin, TX.

I bought a pride of barbardos plant in a gallon container in May this year. Its in my south facing backyard, against a wall which casts a shadow on it, part of the day. I think it gets a lot of sun, definitely more than 6 hours a day. It seems to be doing pretty good, grown taller -- about 3 feet tall now and lots of little plants coming up all around it. No blooms though! The flower bed gets watered twice a week, through sprinklers and has good drainage.

All around in Austin these plants seem to be full of blooms, even the one on roadside apparently neglected one. What can I do to induce blooming? Have been thinking of transplanting it to another location but thought I'd check here first. Any suggestions?
