Pinenuts...andy good deals?

Hi All
I have a ton of basil and would love to find a really good price of pinenuts. Have you spotted any? I used to get them at Sam's but that was several years ago and havne't seen them since.

What do you use for your pesto?
How do you freeze basil for the winter?
thank you!

Cynthia, I use walnuts in my pesto when pinenuts are not available (I do like them better, but walnuts also give it a nutty flavor). I make the pesto, and freeze it....the olive oil does not allow it to freeze completely so it is almost like frest when it comes out of the freezer.

thanks Carrie
Lastyear I just mixed the basil and olive oil in a food processor and "froze" it. You are right, it doesn't really freeze and is wonderful in the winter.

Last year I used a jar. What do you use? One year I put it in a gallon zip bag and froze it flat, just boke off chunks.

I'll try walnuts.

I use small plastic containers. I roasted some slivered almonds tonight for a spinach salad and thought they may be good to try as well.

you know, that does sound good...better than walnuts because they are smooth. Thanks
