Fall Veggie planting

What type of veggies can I plant in August and September? Please provide whether they need to be seeds or plants. I have already planted sweet corn and they are about 1 inch tall. I also planted pumpkin ( has two leaves already) but I still have places in my garden for more veggies. Thanks.

Any root vegetable seeds, Cole plants or seed, lettuce seeds, herbs seeds or plants.
