Looking for advice on how to prepare my non-fruit baring Banana tree for Winter. Second year I have had these. First year planted a single stalk from a nursery here in Plano, TX. Tree grew a new leaf and pups almost everyday. When we had our mild winter in 2011 I just let the leaves die and then in the spring the grove started growing where the last leaves left off. Now over 16 feet tall. Wondering if I should cut back to the grown and separate the pups now and plant them in other places or do the same as last year and let it grow from where it leaves off? The original stalk died after the frost.
