Ruth, this looks like one of the ones I have that is now a tree (and I don't know how many more winters I can drag it in and out), but I have rooted a number of them the same as brugs.......some in water and some in soil. They seem to root easily.

I seem to have a harder time rooting in soil.

Should you need more cuttings, I have plenty on my "trees"...................just come get them.

I've rooted a number of hibiscus including the fringe type - take the cuttings around 6" long and remove all but 2 leaves. Use your fingernail to scratch the are where the leaves were - the plant will root from the bottom and the "damaged" area. I use either potting soil or a mixture of 1/2 and 1/2 perlite and vermiculite . Love to propogate - that is why I have WAY too many plants.
