Babe, I don't know how mature your Red Hot Poker plant is, whether you bought a mature plant or grew from seed. It takes about 3 years to get a blooming size plant. I'm in zone 7a and they did well here when I used to grow them. I finally got tired of the messy foliage which didn't work for me so I took them out plus the after school kids liked to yank off the flowers and toss them. Nice kids. They left everything else alone but I guess that poker was just too tempting.

I am pretty sure I have seen the Batface Cuphea seeds offered in trade on the seed trading forum. You might post a "want" there. They do produce a lot of seed. It wasn't hardy for me here but I am obviously further north being in central Oklahoma. I don't know if you are zone 7a or 7b. It might make a difference.

When I grew Red Hot Poker, it didn't bloom every year but I didn't have it long enough (we moved) to figure out what made it happy. I bought mine mature and it did bloom the first year, but not the next. I had amended black gumbo at that house.
