Japanese Beetle???

I found a kind of beetle I have never seen before! At first I thought it was japanese which I have only seen in pictures. According to Wikipedia, their elytra are cooper colored. The ones I'm finding are metallic green all over. Besides they get airborne very fast. Other species, when dropped get to the floor. This one opens its elytra and, before hitting the floor, gets airborne.
I am also finding an unusual amount of larvae when working my soil.
Have you seen one of these?
If I find another one I will take a picture to publish.

I had never seen them in any numbers before either.
