Mara, the people who know more about growing this species are at Natives of Texas nursery near Kerrvillle. I think it does good in grass land and mostly full sun. Actually, I've seen them do well in a partly sandy area next to a building, if that helps. I'd definitely give some water in a fairly dry climate...it has to get established and that takes time.

Did you have any success with your seed? Thank You for the tip, I will see if they have any information that they are willing to give. I would like to have them in my garden area if I am to water them and that is mostly part shade. The clay area is western exposure and the area with the eastern sun is caliche with a thin layer of brought in soil. The aristolochia fimbriata does well in part shade.

Mine has not bloomed and it disappears and most of the time it is not there. I can't help you with seed. My land is a bit dry for it. The only seed I can get is A. fimbriatta, a non native , I think.
