Roselee, I will definitely have to get that rose, how beautiful! My OGR's suffered in the blooming area, they tried, but blooms were tiny and of course didn't last well at all. Belinda's Dream and Maitland White were probably the best looking through the heat.

I'm working in the yard today, it rained just a little last night and looks like the intense heat is gone, absolutely beautiful with a light breeze.

If you don't mind minis Red Cascade climber. It never looks bad summer,winter,spring or fall. I'm not sure how old this cultivar is.

Although not classified as an OGR, My Valentine (floribunda 1951) never stopped blooming and, surprisingly, the blooms pretty well kept their size and color during the intense heat. Many of my old garden roses continued to bloom, but the blooms were very small and faded. Of course, now that the temps have dropped a little, they are full of buds and blooms!

Molly, I couldn't agree more about Valentine. I have three of them and they literally never stopped blooming all summer! The petals burnt a bit around the edges as most red roses do, but as you say they kept their size and there were more flowers to come along and replace them very quickly.

I stopped writing just now and ran out to take some pictures. For once my camera did pretty good on the red color.

Fruit cocktail shrimp plant is planted around them in hopes it would be a good color match.

Yes, October is our month to look forward to nice rose blooms. They often bloom well into December. Light freezes don't even faze them.
