By the way, my plants have grown very large ... over 6' tall. Leaves toward the bottom are dying on some of them (brown and curled). I am also not sure what that might mean. I checked the soil moisture and it seems rather good.

I find the larger varieties very fussy about watering and always seem to get blossom end rot. My cherries do great with little fuss so that's what I grow. I have a friend with an unlimited supply of cow manure who grows beefsteak very successfully every year. Her hubby helps with the watering though.

I love the moths that horn worms grow into so you can send them on over :-)

I've found cherry tomatoes (super sweet 100s) do much better than larger (beefsteak) types.

That said, I like larger tomatoes, so next season I'm going to try a variety more adapted to this climate, Tropic VFN or Ozark Pink VF.

I love the larger tomatoes, but I've never had any luck with them...and my parents never had much luck with them, either, in San Antonio. I gave up and just plant cherry tomatoes, Sweet 100s are my favorite.

how are your sweet 100s doing? are you yielding much yet? i am starting to get a lot more now than a few weeks ago.

They've started blooming again, I probably need to feed them again but keep forgetting to do that. They didn't weather the summer as well as I'd expected them to, but that could have been partly my fault.
