Have used the "Free" category on CL to very quickly and easily hand off plants/bulbs we dug to reduce or replace and would have likely become mulch otherwise. List for "free" and they're usually gone within hours.

Have seen plants offered for sale on CL as potted and "dig yourself", but never anything of interest close enough to pursue. An Illinois relative uses one of the freecycler(?) lists to pick up some nice veggie plants in the spring - apparently this is a popular way for some gardeners in her area to share their surplus starts. Don't know if there is similar zip/neighborhood focused on-line activity in DFW.

I have thought about putting some on CL to sell.
I would probably meet the buyer somewhere.
I usually have some extra roses and brugmansia's rooted.

And I've looked to see what's for sale, but haven't found anything I was looking for at the time.

I have given things away, but never sold them. Worked pretty well.

Earlier this year, I sold about 20 cannas on craigslist;
they had been in pots over the winter, nobody wanted them at the swap, & I just couldn't face figuring out where to put them & then having to dig dig dig, plant plant plant, & water water water.

I met the guy at Whataburger & charged him $1 per canna, & both of us were thrilled.

Later in the summer, I gave away a bunch of parrot feather plants that had overrun the RubberMaid 'pond'.

I met those people at Tractor Supply.

Then a few weeks ago, I put a 'free' ad on cl & gave away 4 or 5 tree seedlings within a few hours.

I've used Ellis County Freecycle, too, but it seems like there are a lot more craigslist readers than there are freecyclers.

I have in the past sold irises using Craig's List. I even had the people come to my home and never had a problem, maybe it was because I always had my husband around.

I've given away bags of irises before. Never bought or picked up anything myself. Not willing to dig up something huge in the summertime. People don't want to dig it up so they offer it for free in the hopes somebody will do the work for them.
