The grubs are really gross and I try to get rid of them for that reason alone, but I don't know what they eat. I figure I've probably grown something they've killed and I just didn't realize the problem, but I don't know.

you have to put down grub killer at the right time in their growth cycle or it`s just a waste of time.

I have chickens and never use any pesticides so no help. Grasshoppers are not a problem here.

Beneficial nematodes work very well for killing grubs, fleas, ants and a lot of other pests.. They will live for a long time as long as the soil doesn't dry out completely. Again, do your homework on how and when the best times are to apply. There's lots of information online.

Pets are sometimes harmed by chemical grub killers and who knows who else that might through a recently treated area barefooted.

I used Ortho Over n out when I tilled shortly before spring. I watered it in well. I repeated again a couple of weeks ago. No grubs to be found when turning over the soil to prep for cabbage yesterday. My main reason for doing it is to kill the fire ants. Also doing it before spring planting kills off the cut worms as well.

Note I used the granular stuff. Not the liquid.
