Trumpet Bush - should I trim?

LollyBee

I have a Trumpet Bush (Tecoma Stans) that is planted on the east side of the house behind some roses and colocasia (I think that is what it is). The Trumpet bush has gotten so tall it bends over and covers everything else in the bed. I hate to trim it because it has gotten very pretty blooms lately. If I won't trim it, my boyfriend suggested putting up a trellis and tying it up. I don't want to lose all the blooms but don't want a trellis either. Should I have kept it trimmed back so it wouldn't get so tall? Will it die back this winter and I can do a better job with it next year? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
