The tree branches have three oval leaves connected to a pencil leave, most lime leaves I have seen have a stack double leave so maybe some type of wild limon

It's probably 'Trifoliate orange', Poncirus trifoliata. I grow a drarf, very thorny selection of this tree, "Flying dragon" as an ornamental. In the fall the fruits turn bright orange and the twisted stems and thorns stay green in winter giving a lot of winter interest.

Because it is very cold hardy it is used as a root stock for citrus groves, but has escaped from cultivation and is considered invasive in Texas.

I just looked at some pic's on the internet, that it . Guess I'll wait till they turn yellow to taste, and if sweet maybe I will dig it up and move it to my yard. I have not had good luck with grafting citrus, got one scion to take vs 20 that didn't. Have not tried bud grafting and I think its to late in the year for that. God willing I can try it next spring....

I once read a recipe for orangeade made with trifoliate oranges that went something like this:

1 orange
5 gallons sugar
10 gallons water

In other words -- they are sour. It was a joke recipe of course :-)

But joking aside I think it is a beautiful plant in the right setting. It's certainly drought tolerant. Mine seldom gets watered.
