Hairstreak invasion

The large patch of Mexican Hat (Ratibida columnifera) temporarily taking over a section of our back yard was covered with (gray?) hairstreak butterflies this afternoon. Have frequently seen one or two at a time in the past, but never many dozen as today. Thought they were mostly local, so surprised by this mass flight - or maybe they're just really fond of Ratibida? Cool... but then we're not growing cotton.
