Euonymus alatus ( Burning Bush)

Recently returned from a trip to the Midwest and there I saw the most beautiful scarlet bushes. Apparently the common name is Burning Bush. Think they would grow good here in the Hill Country? Does anyone have those down here?
Thanks. |

| I don't know about the Hill Country...but if it is the same bush we call Burning Bush and it sounds like it, they do great in East Texas and in Mississippi. |

| My husband planted a burning bush on the west (front) of our house this spring. It got bigger and is pretty. I don't know what it will do this winter, but if it lasted the summer here and the winters there, I think you are good to go! But our burning bush looks nothing like the pictures I just saw on google images. Maybe ours will turn that color later on??? |

| Thanks ginnypenny and lynnmariep86. Maybe they require a freeze before they turn red. They had a couple of freezes already there in Illinois. It is my understanding that they are green during the spring and summer, then a beautiful red in fall. Then later drop their leaves. I am going to try to find a couple for the back yard. Thanks again for your input. |
