Spider lily

Yep! One of my favorites. Very old flowers that bloom in the fall after it rains. The leave will then come up and live all winter. When it gets hot, the leaves will die and you'll forget about them until they bloom again. Therefore some people call them surprise lilies. Once you move them, they might take a few years to bloom again. They can be divided by digging up the bulbs every 5 years or so. But they thrive on neglect and do very well here. Plus they are so cool! Anyway, I think Lycoris radiata is the scientific name. Thanks, they are very beautiful when they are blooming. My garden provided very poor results as well this year.

Mine didn't bloom this fall, but the folliage is coming up. They will live through droughts in most cases, but need a sufficient water in order to bloom.

Yep, same here. The soil where they were was like concrete. I dug them up and put them in pots. I see one that I missed putting up foliage also.

Was thrilled with 5 blooms this year - mine were passalong bulbs, some people here call them "Hurricane Lilies".

They're pretty tough to kill, but they don't always bloom every year, especially a year after you cut back their foliage or dug them up while they were still green.
You might want to make sure that these have an oppurtunity to send up foliage, since you dug them up while they were blooming.

I`ve dug them up when blooming before and they did fine. Sometimes they won`t bloom for a few years and you think they are gone then POOF! there they are. There is a yellow one also.
