Fruit trees in DFW

Sun-n-Clay

My local Lowes has some mandarins, oranges, and lemons fruit trees on clearance sale ($12 - $14). They look really healthy, not like the stuff on their "dead" rack.

Has anyone had success growing citrus in the DFW area? Did you do it in containers or in the ground? How do they handle our heat and drought?

I'd appreciate any advice as I am considering getting a couple. I would really love to have fruit trees.

(I know there is a fruit forum but we are all Texans here so I thought I'd try for homegrown local advice first.)

TIA
