This is one of those plants recommended for my area that will not grow for me.Darn it all.

All it took was one whiff while passing by at Rainbow Gardens! I turned around and put it in my wagon ... :-)

this one is about 5 yrs old. it starts very late which makes me think it dies back hard and regenerates from just a few roots but then blooms until frost. saw your post on flame acanthus-it should grow here in reno-texas ranger has it in okla-but have never seen it offered-the extreme dryness here might be a problem-trying to water enough but not too much-what do you think

I never ever ever watered my Flame acanthus after the first year. Even when we got 5.5" in that awful year. It its not too picky. It is originally from somewhere in the Big bend. Some of those mountains can actually have moist canyons so that statement might be misleading.
