For those of you interested, the next open weekend is Nov. 8-9, plant sale is noon to 5 pm and garden tour is1-3 pm. It's open again Nov. 22-23. Peckerwoodgarden.org. 979-826-3232
this is a great place, folks. The gentleman that started this garden many years ago has mixed conifers, evergreens, natives, cycads and succulents from mostly Northern Mexico and Texas. The displays are so tasteful, will give you lots of ideas for residential gardens plus it will be plants that will do well in the area. Plant sales are great because most of the plants will be stuff they have propagated from the garden and stuff you will not find anywhere else. Some fruit trees even. Highly recommend but it will be a drive from Houston, still worth it.
It IS a great place. I visited several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. How I'd love to have a truck and tons of money to attend their plant sale. But then I'd have to buy another house to have a place to plant it. Oh well ....
The owners use to go down into Mexico and look for seeds to harvest. These they have been providing thru out the world. I have never been there but I have gone to there website to see what they had. I have forgotten the name of their other nursery.
