Fall seeds

I'm working myself into a seed planting frenzy and have a question as I'm sorting through the old seed box.

What about Delphiniums? Fall or spring?

I don't know diddly about growing delphs, but found a good website that might be of help. I've tried them a couple times without much success. The article talks mostly about growing the plants, but also addresses growing from seed down in the later paragraphs. Cheryl

Here is a link that might be useful: Growing Delphiniums

Thanks Cheryl! That was pretty informative. I didn't know they needed staking, either, when they get tall. Heck, I didn't even know how tall they were! At least my soil should be good for them.

Hi Pam, I used to plant them between Aug and now, lol

Hi Jolana! Are they really floppy or only when we get a lot of wind?

The stems are large, but if the plant gets too tall they are like iris, they can benefit from staking. The blossom heads can get very large and long. I planted mine near a fence so I didn't have to stake them. But then, they didn't come back the next year either like I expected them to. That's when I found out there are annual delphs and perinneal delphs. Cheryl
