Tammy, I love my Don Juans. I never want to be without them. I can't remember where I purchased mine over the years, but I do remember that the big box stores always have dozens of them in the Spring - maybe April, could be March. Probably most places that carry roses will carry Don Juan because it's so loved. Other than locally, you could also order it from Antique Rose Emporium and Chamblees.

I think you can plant Don Juan in fall or spring.

My roses planted in the fall did better for me.

I have one that was purchased from Strong's Nursery in Carrollton about 2 years ago; dummy me, didn't realize it was grafted, I'm usually own-root all the way. It has done some strange things, almost looks RRD on one side, so plan to cut that part out, but the other side is absolutely gorgeous, the blooms look like velvet. Very weird...

I'd take a "side" trip to Tyler and stop at Chamblee's. They root most of their roses so they grow on their own roots. Around the DFW area, Fall planting is best for root development before the heat of the following summer. Mulch well. However, you do know that mulch should stay about a hand's width away from the main stem.
