Icky, sticky 'honey dew' ....

The pecan tree aphids are worse than I've ever known them to be. They are all over town and also Austin from what I see and read. Sticky 'honey dew' is covering every thing under and around my pecan tree. Thank goodness it's occuring in autumn so most of the plants with the sticky mess on them will drop their leaves. Then I'll hose down the walks and the few evergreen plants with soapy water using a Gilmour hose end sprayer. If I don't black mold will grow on the 'honey dew'.

My guess is the hot dry summer reduced the insects that would normally keep the pecan aphids under control. The tree is too tall to spray with soapy water or I would.

What are y'all doing about the mess?
