PJ, exactly! It might dip to freezing for a short while tonight. It would be nice if it was enough to send the aphids to aphid heaven or at least to cause the pecan leaves to drop.

Problems like this are why pecan trees aren't recommended for shade trees where they are native. Too many pests.

My tree was very small and looked more like a bonsai when we moved here, even though it was probably 20 years old. The big flower bed I built around it caused it to get enough water and nutrition to grow tall, but it doesn't get the thousands of gallons of water it would need to produce a good crop of pecans.

They pop up here and grow grow grow! There are heavy pecans loads on trees that receive no irrigation. It's quite the change from 9" of rain annually!

They are always in the oaks too, yucky mess!

Right, pk!! Those aphids Love my oaks and mess all over my car if I try to park in the shade. Brownwood got down to 25 degrees Friday morning. Beautiful day....frost on the grass, NO wind, mist rising of the stock tank. You'd think it was fall!!
