Smith & Hawken Last Day on the 16th

Made my second and last trip inside the loop to check out what they had left at 80% off. For those who don't know, they're going out of business nationwide.

Bought a compost thermometer for $3 and a damaged table-top terrarium I had been too cheap to buy at 40% off! My compost pile (in the compost tumbler I bought on my first trip to their liquidation sale) is an excellent 118 degrees right now!

Not much left: some Christmas ornaments, a few bird feeders, a bunch of large orchid pots (bigger than the 1 quartish ones I needed), some mossy looking reclining gnomes for $11, etc. There were a bunch of plastic "mini-gardens" which looked like they'd be good for balconies or small gardens spots. Not sure how to describe them other than the face of the container had about 8 decent sized holes for planting and the entire unit was about 3 ft by 3 ft by 8 inches or so. Would be good for a retirement home maybe, or planted out with cascading flowers...

Not sure it's worth anyone's trek now, but finally they have prices I can afford...

Are they going back to being a catalog like they were before?

I don't know for sure, but it's my understanding they're a sign of the times and gone forever....
