Although there *are* miniature roses that will thrive outdoors in the garden, I think the ones in the grocery store are more like florist plants.

Yes, as Sylvia says named miniature roses would probably do better in the garden; however, some people have planted the grocery store minis outside with good success. The neat thing is sometimes there are 4 or 5 plants in one pot of grocery store minis.

If you have some now that you want to try planting outside and you live in a cold part of Texas it would probably be best to wait until spring so they have a chance to develope a good root system before next winter. Roses are tolerent of freezing weather when established.
