Any Bulb Sales spotted?

Hi all
It's the time of year when the big box stores start to reduce bulbs. My Sam's on Eastchase got very few boxes in this year. Doesn't look good for the annual clearance sale on Thanksgiving week. Darn!

Anyone spotted any sales?
thanks
c

Darn! I got mine at the Lake Worth Lowes back when they first got them in! It was a good price anyway (45 bulbs for $15) but half price would have been sweeter!

Lowe's on 646 had their bulbs 1/2 price yesterday too. Lots of bearded iris, daffodils, tulips, rannunculus, freesia, amaryllis belladonna, frittallia, most of what won't grow for us but I bought some amaryllis belladonna.
Tally HO!

Is it too late to plant these bulbs? TIA...Billy

Billy
It's too late to buy tulips that need to be chilled before we plant. We are just coming into bulb planting season for others like allium, ranunculus and freesias.

be sure to soak ranunculus and anemones over night or for several hours before you plant them. They plump up. Plant Ranun. claws down!

Freesias don't want to freese so if you go for them, keep them where they won't freeze. They are lovely in april.

If y'all happen to find some spanish bluebells aka hyacinthoides go for them! They are really happy to live here.

Iris are ready to plant, so are daffodils. If you so for tulips, at least stick them in the fridge until January. January is out coldest month so they should get a good chill from now until then.

Tally good luck with your belladonna. I planted some several years ago. This summer one bloomed. It took me a while to remember what it was! I just stood there gaping in awe and scratching my head for a while.

Well, in case anybody is wondering -- the bulbs at Lowes in San Antonio on Callaghan are NOT on sale :-) Not yet anyway ... (Lots of pansies and dianthus for .50 cents though.)

I have a few belladonnas throughout the yard. My grandma called them naked ladies. They aren't consistent bloomers for me but when they do bloom they are so pretty.
I didn't buy any iris, I just don't have luck with them here, no chill time so they won't bloom.

Tally HO!

Touch of Nature (online) has them at really good prices right now.
I got, and planted in 2 days, 3,200 crocus and muscari.

Brent and Becky's bulbs has their half-price fall sale. Be careful, not all bulbs are 50% off (I think paperwhites, amaryllis, and oxalis are excluded).

Here is a link that might be useful: Brent and Becky's bulbs - Fall sale

Lowes on Eastchase in West Arlington / east Fort Worth. had their bags of bulbs down to 75% off. Excluded were amaryllis and paperwhites. I got 4 bags of freesias for the price of 1 and 2 bags of mixed crocus. They still had a lot of everything at 11am Sat the 5th

I was told that if you go to a Lowes and they don't have the same deal, you can ask someone in customer service, that person will call the Lowes where the discount is and if it is true...you'll get the sale price.

Bulbs are 75% off at Lowes north Austin.

Got this in a newsletter from Antique Rose Emporium in San Antonio:

Best Sale Price Yet!

Buy one get one free! Whether it is one bulb or a bag of bulbs, this sale is worth the trip. That's 1/2 off!

Take advantage of this pricing as we will be planting bulbs here at The Antique Rose Emporium. (The staff will thank you for it.)

Fill a stocking full of bulbs, add a bow and mark one more gift off your list.

Went into Home Depot today and they still have some bulbs and they are all 1/2 priced. Signed up online for their gardening "club" and received a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free on any size poinsettia. Couldn't fit all my plants in the greenhouse so I really needed more plants!
