1980s was much worse and I lived in Houston growing up. Lol. Outdoor fish pond had maybe an inch of ice layer that we could walk on. Never saw that happen since then so be careful of what you wish for. Lol.

I *think* the chances of it happening again over the next 30 years like that is much higher than you think. It is all cyclical.

My big pond froze over for the first time in the 2010/2011 winter storms. Temps were lower a few times in previous years, but the pond had never frozen since we had it built in 1993.

Three inches of ice, cobblestone ice on freeway bridges, ice crushing carports, and people without electricity for days. That's life in DFW this past weekend. Thank goodness we did not lose power! No tree limbs off my oak tree this year, but lots of trees down all over DFW.

With any luck, this freeze will kill a bunch of bugs.

We can always hope! I always think that cold weather will kill bugs, but have you ever seen any programs about summer in Alaska? The mosquitoes are very abundant and they have 8 months a year below freezing. Mosquitoes are my most annoying bug :-)
