RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Thanks Penny, that would be great.

What is it with the seed and plant catalogs? I have been getting stacks and stacks of them, as bad as the pre christmas deluge. I use them under mulch in my flower beds so they don't go to waste, but this is getting ridiculous. Why do these companies send out catalogs with the same stuff week after week? You would think folks who sell plants and garden supplies would have some consideration for trees, pollution etc.

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Rosalinda, you can take any cuttings you want from my diablo ninebark if you want. I don't think I have anything else on your list though.

I'm working on the evite now. I'm hoping to get it out within the next week or so, although now that I've said that, I've probably jinxed myself!

Thanks Remy, I will. And yes I am kinda climbing the walls :o)

I think it is all the house building stuff stress, I need to get my hands in the soil to dissipate it.

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Nixon,
I have a peach and a pink tgbi and a gorgeous lavender drumstick primrose. (that I originally got from Remy) I should have some lime hosta as well.

I would love some dwarf merrybells, bloodroot, and any trillium.

Rosalinda
I have brunnera Jack Frost (I thought I gave you some last year?), cuttings from Diablo ninebark, Purple Smoke bush cuttings, and maybe a dark red peony (Karl Rosenfeld)

I would love a sambucus Sutherland gold and begonia taurus.
How do you overwinter Cyperus alternifolius?

Does anyone want any small hellebore seedlings? Mine seeded prolifically this year.

 o
RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Thanks Brenda. I got a regular Brunnera from you last swap, but not Jack Frost. I keep the Cyperus in pot in a tub that I keep some water in, in my cool office building. I do hear they can be grown indoors like a regular house plant with plenty of water, but no standing water needed, but haven't tried it. Maybe I will have better luck with the cuttings this year. The Karl Rosenfeld sounds great also, if you can get some. I have a Taurus Rex for you, and hope I my Sutherland Gold survived the onslaught of the deer and rabbits.

I am way way behind on my gardening as I am spending all my time working on the house. I hope I will get some time soon to start gathering stuff for the Swap. It have been having a very difficult and stressful spring. Hopefully by the end of April things will improve!

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Hi everybody. i'm really looking forward to this year's swap. I missed last year and regreted it.
This Year I'm bringing some pink epimedium, Walkers Low Nepeta (I have eight from fall's division.),and creeping St John's Wort. There are also a couple of rose of sharon, a burning bush and a Roxanne perenial geranium. (only one).

This year's tomato plants will include San Marzanos(a really terrific sauce tomato). Did I read that someone was looking for small veronica? I have one that's blooming right now and is a creeping variety.
I'm also dividing moonbeam coreopsis if anyone is interested.

This spring has been so delightful with everything blooming on top of each other. Please tell me it's gonna last.
ps If you want a peek of any of the above, LMK and I'll try to post a picture.
Ruthie

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

My two year old Helleborus are potted up. I have 5 or 6 that I will be bringing. Also a couple of starters of tall perennial Phlox and a golden raspberry.

Not sure what else I will have as all my young plants are struggling in the heat and just haven't been able to keep them watered ehough.

Penny

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Does anyone want hostas or orange lilies?
I will bring
Golden Jubilee Hyssop
periwinkle
rose campion
yellow loosestrife
sunchokes
black eye susans
corkscrew willow

There's more, but I can't remember right now. I'm borrowing the library computer cause my computer quit. I definitely plan on coming though!

Remy, if your rambling rose still needs a home, my gate is naked and could use some covering :)
Brenda, will you have extra hellebores at the swap?
Does anyone have forget me nots they are thinning? I would like some if you do, please.
Does anyone want some oak trees? I have several 10footers that need to go.
Cheers,
Tauna

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Just a quick post...I'm still madly weeding and mulching. Don't think I'm really gonna be ready this year!

Anyhow, I've got millions of lupine seedlings. If any one wants some, please let me know as I can't possibly pot them all up. Some other stuff I've got...

Barberry (seedlings)
Various Phlox
Lots of Iris :)
A few daylillies (can't remember the variety I have in that spot, but it's probably pandora's box or a red variety (the name escapes me))
Weigela (either wine and roses or maybe midnight wine?)
black eyed susan
Various hardy geranium varieties
A few hollyhock seedlings (pink or peach double)
Bee balm
Columbine (nora barlow or other double purple varieties)
Lots and lots of weeds if anyone wants 'em? :)

That's just a preliminary assessment. I probably have more. Lots of volunteers this year.

I really don't know what I'm looking for. A couple of things that come to mind..

Flax (blue preferred but white is fine too...lost them both this winter)
Delphinium (any)
Campanula (taller varieties preferred but I'm not so picky!)
Foxglove
Peonies
Not sure what else...need to think about that.

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Can't wait for the swap!!!!

I am looking for some tall grasses to use as a border/wall to hide my unsightly firewood pile. Maybe some (if anyone has any to share):

Maiden Grass
Feather Reed Grass
Fountain Grass

I'd also like to try some:

Joe Pye Weed
Peonies (ruffly white or pink)
Yarrow (a good drying variety)

Thanks much!

Tauna,
I've got the rose saved for you. I also have forget-me-nots.

Tara,
I've got Campanula americana seedlings that I'm bringing. I'll see about digging up some Campanula persicifolia too.

Anyone,
I know it is a tall order, but Gary want a blue hosta so if anyone has a bit to spare, I would be greatful.

RE: wanted: wanted: 2010 tara's greatest plant swap/watcha want/

Hi Everyone,
Well this year has SUCKED so far and my gardens and plants have not been any better.

Brenda I do have the Taurus Rex Begonia for you but the rabbits destroyed my Sutherland gold Sambucus. If I can get the little bit of it that is still alive to survive, maybe I can get some for you next year.

I am not bringing too much this year, and I did not get any peonies dug up as I planned - sigh. In fact NOTHING I planned has worked out, and you will all be subjected to my tale of woe and misery.

At least I have the swap to look forward to.....

-Rosalinda
