Question on Upstate Dahlias

Hi All!

I'm sorry to see and hear that we still have some 8000 Upstate residents without power. I passed a house this morning that was having a huge evergreen being taken away from its second story, the attic, and roof. We lost our power for just a few hours. We sat on our laurels of having a nice winter for a change for to long I guess?

I'm hoping a few of you Upstater's store Dahlia tubers as my question is when do you feel it's a safe time to bring them out of storage. Mine are in clumps in peat moss?

I live in CNY which is of course z5 and I think b as I'm close to the thruway (and just 2 miles south). I haven't grown Dahlias from tubers for to long and have never really known when would be the best time for me.

As many know North of the Thruway and due N of I81 is a different world at times, as it has been for the last few days since the storm blew through last Friday. Their snowfall on the ground off the Lake is now being measured in feet since Friday.

Thanks in advance Jim
