seed starting

Hello. As I'm sure you are all aware, the weather has been unusually warm. But to get to my question, when would be the best time to start seeds indoors? Should I take the warm weather into consideration, or just take it with a grain of salt, and prepare seeds at the usual time?

thanks!

Hi Jay,

It depends on what seeds you are starting but I would still base it on a certain number of weeks before the last frost. We could still have a frost the last week in May even though it has been so warm.

I, of course, always jump the gun and start my seeds way too early. I'm trying to keep control this year but it's not working so far :)

Well since I don't do any seeds inside, I am not much help but I would do them at about the same time that you usually do them. Now if you have quite a bit of seed you could do some early or even via wintersowing and then the rest at your regular time.
