I start peppers now. They are very slow growers, I've *never* had them get too big and leggy.
I start tomatoes late March or first of April.

King of the North is a great pepper for our area - reliable, big, short season.

For tomatoes, Early Girl is good.

I started eggplants and peppers last week, and now more than half of them are up. Last year I waited too long to start them and so did not get as many peppers as I wanted, especially with the cold, dark, wet summer we had. My best pepper performer last year was Alma Paprika, which made nice thick-walled sweet peppers even when they were still in the white stage. I'm growing a lot more of them this year, plus trying a bunch of others that are more short-season than I've grown before.

I'll start the tomatoes towards the end of the month.
