Morning glories are great candidates for winter sowing. Marigolds also work well (although I did mine indoors this year--don't know why), but petunias start blooming too late when they are winter sown--in my opinion, anyway. I usually don't winter sow this type of annual until mid-March, along with cleomes, cosmos, tomatoes... They won't germinate until it's warm enough outside, but they will catch up and be strong and healthy.

I have already done everything that Anne Marie mentioned except for Morning Glories which I will be doing today as soon as I cut a milk jug for my paper pots to go into.

I'm no pro at WSing, but I've already done a first sowing of Zinnias, Petunias, Marigolds, and Calendula. I am going to probably wait until April to do a second sowing (if I can sit on my hands that long).

6-8 weeks prior to the last frost date which is typically memorial day...give or take. Near the end of the month (March) is when I start seeds.
