Ginseng

I have 8 acres. partly wooded where I woul like to put some ginseng and goldenseal.( naturalized not just in a plot.) has anyone had any success ?

I just WSed some American Ginseng this winter.
It takes three years to get going, but I have a small creekside area that I figure I will just put it in and leave it be once it germinates to see if it takes.
I can keep you posted on how it goes.

Ginseng can be tricky to grow. It prefers northern slopes, a mature canopy of trees to grow under like Suger Maple, Hickory, Tulip Poplar, and it can be grown under Oaks but new plants can be smothered out by an Oaks thick leaves. Ginseng also needs moist soil but never wet soil. Below is a link from Penn State University you may find helpful.
