The link below shows another story commonly used on the internet and word of mouth. I was forwarded this story describing it as a cougar that was shot in Bath, NY which is in Steuben County. The story was much the same with details to make it more believable enhancing it (such as exact location, where the guy worked..) The same general story circulated the hunting clubs and taverns in Western New York- Same exact story, different counties.

The Dairy Farmer story is the most common. The e-mail I received actually started out with "Thanks to Animal Rights Activists, we are at the bottom of the food chain"... The mountain lion killing calves story the followed, then the same photos of the fellow holding the huge paw in front of his face, as well as holding/ hugging the carcass in the garage.
