| I found these little sprouts in my backyard today. They have probably been there since I bought the house. Anyone know if they are a weed or something else? They are covered in red, then the inside is green.
(I thought there was an identification forum, but couldn't find it, so I thought that this might be a natvie weed or something other NY gardenerscould help id.) Thanks!

| Those aren’t seedlings. That’s rhubarb, currently selling for $1.99/lb. at the grocery store down the street. Give it a space about 4 feet across and stand back. It’s a perennial that will come up every year. -- BC -- |

| I suspected they were rhubarb- I remember plants that looked like this in our yard when I was a kid, and though nobody ver did anything with it, am I told it was rhubarb. I just didn't want to get my hopes up that it was actually something good instead of some giant nuisance. Yippppeeee!!! My sis loves strawberry rhubarb pie. Guess I better go do some rhubarb research. Thanks!! |

| PS- I was worried that it was burdock or somthing like that. I was actually thinking it might be those weeds I call elephant ears- I don't know what they are really called, but they have giant leaves. |
