moving poppy's

have some poppy's coming up from last year. can i dig them up and re-position them in a bunch without hurting them?

Poppies don't take well to transplanting, especially iceland and other annual types, you better off seeding these next spring. I had better luck with the perennial ones. Moved some last May and they did ok. Make sure it's well watered.

I have had good luck moving self seeded annual poppies - black peony in my case. Dig up the clumps and soak them apart, try to disturb the roots as little as possible.
