I've been offered "as much as I want", so have thought about planting some in a couple of areas close to the road which are a bear to mow (rocks, roots, etc), far from the house. I don't even care if it spreads (less to mow :-). I'm wondering if it can stand road salt and if it will eventually crowd out the grass, which is what I would like it to do.

I know Anne Marie loved hers, but I don't know that she is still on GW.

I have no idea about road salt, but it does tend to crowd out grass in clumps. My mom's neighbor put it in a flower bed by the fence, and my mom had it in her lawn in a year or two (it also migrated across my mom's flower bed to get there).
