Prince of Orange Poppy

Just bought a couple and tried to do a search on the GW for some pointers. The search engine must be down. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how best to grow these poppies. I planted some last year on the path to the house, but these say full sun. They would not get full sun in that location but my intent was to add more poppies to that spot. Anyone grow poppies in partial shade? Paul F B

I have oriental poppies in full sun, and some in "partial" sun--they get a couple of hours of the hot afternoon sun. The ones in full sun have more blooms, but the other ones do pretty well, too. Just my experience.

I have a bunch of these growing in full sun and lot more growing underneath a bunch of old apple trees, sumac, and brush. The one in full sun are much taller, but the others still get a ton of flowers. You practically can't kill these things. They have even crowded out the garlic mustard in that area.

Given that info, I think I'll put the poppies with the other two. There are some sumacs I can cut to get more light to the spot- Thanks fellow GW ers! Paul F B
