Dog slept out on the back deck all night. He came in through the doggy door around 3:30 to wake us up, cry, whine. So, I finally got up, and he went back out on the deck and slept. I made coffee and hit the internet.

Well, when it got light, I went out in front to get the paper, and there was a turtle weighing about 15 lbs. with a shell about a foot long, in my garden He/she had dug in 3 different places; didn't do too much damage. I don't know if it was laying eggs or just having a snooze. Maybe that is why the dog wanted me to get up. DH finally picked it up and put it near our stream. Soon it was gone. I didn't see any eggs....I've checked all around and haven't seen a trace of him/her. I had seen many smaller ones when I lived in Ulster County, but this was BIG!! There were 4 slugs on his shell. Yukk.
