The origins of the Iris Friendship Garden can be traced back to 1996, and coincides with the original signing of the Sister Cities agreement between Hamamatsu, Japan, and Rochester. Project Leader and President of the Iris Friendship Garden Foundation Edna Claunch, also a member
of the Hamamatsu/Rochester Sister Cities Committee, will lead this free tour. Louisiana irises love damp areas and bloom later than bearded and Siberian irises. Sponsored by the Highland Park Conservancy.
