Well at least I haven't had to water

Rain rain and more rain - it's the mythical "inch a week" needed for optimal plant health. It's been great for my garden. SOme plants are doing better than they ever have, like maltese cross and clematis.

I haven't even had to water all this year's new plants, and the trees I put in last fall are going to establish well.

While sun worshippers are complaining, I am enjoying the bounty.

Here it is ,4th of July and the ground is still nice and moist. The beans and onions and lettuce are doing well, but I heard that the tomato blight is here. A farmer told me his tomato leaves are falling off. I planted mine in a bucket and hang it on the sunny side of the porch. Lots of tomatoes and lush leaves for now. But who knows. Hope the rain keep the airborn blight at bay.

Well I didn't have to water either until this week end and I have had to water every day since Saturday. My maters are growing but not setting any buds yet except for the one that showed up in my southwestern bed in front of the house. There must have been a stray seed in the compost

I should never have posted this. Haven't had a drop of rain since and everything is now dried out. The heat! The heat!
