Lantana is a shrub in the south. I do know that some people have had success with them coming back each year if it is in a protected area. I just got a Dallas Red that I would LOVE to see come back next year. WHat sort of environment is yours growing in? I would like to see a picture of yours. What area of NY are you in?

I live just south of Syracuse (20 miles). It's planted in a perenial bed on the east side of my house. Not really protected. Actually, it's right by the stairs to the deck so it gets loaded w/ snow b/c I push all the snow off there.
Once it gets bigger I'll post a picture of it. Right now it's only about 18" tall. Last year it was well over 6' tall. And bloomed really until snow fall. I LOVE it. I'd like to get some more but I'm not sure what strain they are of lantana. And everything I've read on lantana says it's a zone 8 or higher... I'm a solid zone 4. Who knows?

Well I may just have to try putting mine in the ground and see if I can get it to survive the winter here in Niagara Falls. I love the color of the Dallas Red. I also have one started from seed but it is the one with Pink and yellow flowers.
