Hi all --

This is my first year with peonies, and I am so pleased! They are gorgeous, and here's a pic of a bouquet I've got inside -- smells heavenly!! Take a look at the link below...

That's just lovely Emily. I couldn't bring myself to cut my peonies, so I left them all out on the plants. Maybe next year I'll get more blooms so I can bring them in.

Love that pink color.

WOW,those are beautiful. DO you know what variety they are?

Sorry von -- no idea what variety... They came with the house!
But they are perfuming the whole downstairs right now!

Those are lovely, Emily! I really like the fragrant peonies; scentless ones are pretty, but they lack "something" to me. My best fragrant ones are 'Philippe Rivoire,' the dark crimson-purple double in my upper yard, and 'Amalia Olson,' a double white down by my driveway. I couldn't bring myself to cut them, but next year when they clump up more I'll bring in a few.

I've gotten really nice, big peony divisions from Klehm's Song Sparrow Gardens (www.songsparrow.com) and Hollingsworth Peony Nursery (www.hollingsworthpeonies.com), and more modest peony root divisions from Gilbert H. Wild's nursery (www.gilberthwild.com) - a good place to try older peony varieties inexpensively. (I can't remember if I already sent you these sites - I know I shared some with Karen from the plant swap, but my memory is squirrelly this week!)

I bought a new one this year called Coral Fay. Very bright fushia color.
