Can you identify this plant for me?

This plant is growing along the side of the road near me.
It grows in a large colony made up of many individual plants. Each plant is about 8-12" tall.

The leaves are about 6" X 6". They aren't exactly hairy, but have a strange suede like texture. All the leaves originate from one base - there is no branching and no flowers that I am aware of. The whole colony has expanded very quickly.

The stem has a rhubarb like color near the top and the plant has a tap root.

Any help will be appreciated. I know this is probably a weed, but I would like to know what it is.

Thank you all.

I don't recognize it, but they'll be able to tell you what it is if you post to the "Name that Plant" forum!

Thank you for the reply.
Yesterday I posted in the Weeds forum and found out it is Coltsfoot.

I'm trying to send a better link. Of course it would have helped not to have the apostrophe at the end.
I think I did it!

Glad you got an ID. I've never seen the plant before.
