My oriental lilies are stunted/Advice?

I'm outside Syracuse...some of my oriental lilies seem VERY SHORT this year....last year at this time they were 2-3x as tall. And it looks like there are some missing (I had hoped they'd INCREASE, not decrease!) They bloomed beautifully last year.

Any suggestions? I'm hoping it's just weather-related, due to the temperature fluctuations or something...you know, one week it's 60 and rainy and the next week it's 90 for a few days etc. Yes, I did put some fertilizer down (not too much) and they are in a raised bed with plenty of amendments, in mostly sun.

Mine are the same way. I'm west of Binghamton.I do believe it's the amount of rainfall. We are behind a good two inches from our normal accumulations. Last year we had an over abundance of rain....remember all the flooding?

Lilies need consistent moisture. If they dry out, they get stunted.

Yes, I noticed at my house and my mothers that the lilies were about a foot shorter than usual. I think it was from such a dry spring. Don't worry, next year they should be fine.

Thanks for the reassurance. Actually, I didn't realize it was dry here....I was concerned that the stunted growth was due to some disease or maybe I had overwatered or overfertilized without realizing it. Maybe we did have a dry spring...I just don't remember so I'll take your word for it. We still have such crummy summer weather though...isn't it kinda weird? I don't ever remember so many cool days, and I've lived here most of my life. :0) Phyl
