What is this berry tree?

I recently moved to this area of NYS and noticed many of our trees have some pretty orange leaves in addition to the usual green ones. Many of the green leaves have small clusters of berries that look exactly like blueberries before they are ripe. There are several of these trees on our property, both large and small. We wonder about their identity and if the berries are edible. This is a popular apple and grape growing area and we have grapes vines all over our property but I've never seen a 'berry' tree. Can anyone help identify our trees? Thanks.

Sounds like Wild Black Cherry.
Is the bark dark and flaky?
Are the leaves oval with a sharp point?

Thank you for responding!! The leaves are oval with a sharp point; the trunk isn't flaky, but striated. I took a picture of the green & peach leaves, berry clusters and trunk but don't know how to post it here.
