It seems awfully early for such a hard frost. Do you agree? The rest of the week should get below freezing also. I need a few more weeks to get things done and this frost has just come too early!

It is early - even earlier than last year which was way too early. And we are having a brutally cold fall - the weather here has been consistently wet cold and miserable since the last week in Sep. We had a very light frost 2 nights ago, and they are calling for frost almost every night this week. I have some stuff covered but as always, LOTS more to do to get things prepared for the winter. After a lousy spring, and summer, I hoped we would get a half way decent fall, but no such luck - sigh -Rosalinda

Yeah I agree, spent the last week in San Diego visiting my son and came back to this still trying to rescue the tropicals, think i might have lost some...too early for this kinda weather.

I agree, it is always too early to have a killing frost! In the state I grew up in we had roses until the end of November. But then, remember years ago we had killing frosts the middle of September and the last frost in Spring the end of May in upsate NY? Therefore, it is great to have an extended season now, thanks to global warming I assume.

I definitely agree that this is too early for a hard frost. Everything out back is dead but the bed on the west and front of the house is hanging in there. Still have a few salvias blooming along with honeysuckle and Cuphea schumanii. I brought most of my best hummer tropicals in a couple of weeks ago so they are doing fine. Since it is going to be a little warmer today I want to try and get my Heucheras divided as the Helleborus is crowding them out. Penny
