Texas Bluebonnets, Flanders Poppy, Alamo Fire, Indian Paintbrush

My family just moved back to NY from Texas, after having been been there for 5 years. Every spring, along the state highways, the poppies, bluebonneys and paintbrushes flourished the landscape. We'd like to "bring some of Texas" to our yard in Zone 5a / Oneida County, but there's a risk of the ground being poorly suited to these plants. The Alamo Fire is a specially bred maroon (Texas A&M) version of the Bluebonnet, so we understand the need to keep these flowers separate or risk cross-pollenation (and no visible difference in the result!). Does anyone know if we're in a suitable region for these? I've got some hasta beds that "just need killing" and these would be a warm and welcome substitute. Note, the BBs are fall-planting, spring budding, so now's the time - at least before frost!
I'd really appreciate your help! Thank you very much in advance!
