Mushrooms in basement

We have a partialy unfinished basement in our old farmhouse. We excavated some of the top surface of the clay floor to install a temporary wooden walkway until we can completely finish the basement. The area of clay floor where the excavation took place (and where the oak tembers are laid) has sprouted mushrooms again for the second year. The mushrooms themselves are not a problem, however the spores that they generate do not smell pleasant and I worry about how they might affect the respritory health of my family (we have 2 small children and I have asthma). The opening to the basement is not easily closed off to the entry way to the house. I would like to eliminate the existing plants and any further growth due to the spores. I tried a bleach solution last year with only temporary results. Pulling the plants is also only temporary. How would an application of lime work? Any other suggestions?
