Toad lily always reminded me of orchids. Though probably too cold.

The bewildering thing is that the orchid type blooms were on foliage that looked exactly like datura. The seed pod I clipped was taken from the stem with a blooming orchid like flower. I wish I had taken a photo.
I'm familiar with toadlily...nice plant, but not the one I saw.

Sounds like a new datura, interesting.

If no one is gets out that way to see the plant, you may try the "name that plant" forum, those guys are pretty good.

Yes, the seed pod is ovalish and and spines all over. I've put it in a paper envelope in a sunny window sill. If it is a new datura hybrid, my guess is that the seeds might not be true to the parent.
